Harborview's Hawk attack

For all intents and purposes a hawk attack! The hawk thought he/she had an easy meal and the pigeons in my removeable aviary thought they were the meal. But as we see this play out, this time there was no harm done.

While looking out of an upstair's window I noticed this hawk perched on the tree next to the loft. With my camera in hand, I ran down the back stairs hoping to take a picture of this beautiful specimen. As soon as I hit the first floor hall, the hawk made a sweep at the birds in the aviary. My photography is not great and I am shooting through the back door window, but we can see it's image.

As we see, once this hawk landed on the aviary it took no time for the frightened pigeons to enter the loft. Still determined to get that easy meal, this tenacious predator of the wild continues persuit.

While all my pigeons are safe in the loft the hawk stands on the aviary without that easy meal it was wishing for and ponders where today's meal will come from. Before about three or so years ago I never saw a hawk. They now on occasion drop by looking for an easy meal. I always thought by living in the inner city with many large maple trees and lots of wires that it made it too difficult for these predators to hunt my pigeons. Only recently have they become a problem.
